100th S.C. State Convention
Joining Together in Spartanburg to Celebrate
Our Centennial State Convention
On behalf of Council Chair Judy Scott and the 100th State Convention Committee, I welcome you to a weekend of learning, networking, and fun in the “Hub City” Spartanburg, South Carolina. The city was named “Hub” because of the way seven railroad lines passed through the city boundaries and then laid out as a circle. The lines acted as spokes, meeting in the center, which was the city's hub.
Our centennial convention will be held at the 1881 Event Hall, located in the former headquarters of a legendary Upstate textile mill. 1881 Event Hall has always been the heart of the community. The 1881 Event Hall strikes a perfect balance between modern amenities and historic roots, making it the ideal canvas for our 100th convention.
You will become part of our Lions’ history as you enjoy meetings, meals, presentations, vendors, and networking with fellow Lions from clubs throughout the State. District Governor Cindy Taylor of 32C is responsible for the recognition awards luncheon on Saturday at noon, and District Governor Earlene Corrothers will lead the proceedings at our banquet Saturday evening. Our guest, International Director John Lawrence from the great State of Maryland, looks forward to meeting you and presenting awards to a few of our outstanding Lions from clubs throughout the state.
Special thanks go to everyone on the annual convention committee, the volunteers who will be manning the registration desk, hospitality suite, and silent auction, the vendors, and the Lions Clubs and businesses that have supported this event by purchasing ads or sponsorships for our convention program and/or donating items to the silent auction.
We hope you enjoy the hospitality shown by the folks at the 1881 Event Hall and the Spartanburg Hilton Garden Inn. They have been an exceptional group of people to work with.
Thank you for attending the historic 100th South Carolina Lions Convention. We are happy you took time from your busy schedule to share this occasion with us!
Yours in Service, PDG Bill Hahn
